Bike & E-Bike Rentals for the Greenbrier River Trail
The Greenbrier River Trail runs 78 miles through the Greenbrier Valley on a crushed limestone surface along one of West Virginia's most scenic river corridors. You don't have to ride all 78 miles — most people pick a stretch, take their time, and come back for more. River City is based less than a mile from the southern terminus in Caldwell, and we rent standard bikes and e-bikes in 2-hour, half-day, and full-day options so you can cover exactly as much trail as you want.
Want to ride point-to-point instead of doubling back? We can make that happen. We do shuttle drops and pickups regularly — whether you're riding to Marlinton, or making a full day of it up to Cass. Point-to-point riding is one of the best ways to experience the trail, and it's something we do a lot of. Contact us to discuss shuttle options.
Standard Bike Rentals
Our standard rental fleet is set up for the Greenbrier River Trail — comfortable, reliable bikes that handle the crushed limestone surface well. These are the right choice for riders who want a workout, are comfortable setting a steady pace, or have trail experience and want to cover some ground.
Available in 2-hour, half-day, and full-day rentals. Helmets included. We'll get you fitted and pointed in the right direction before you head out.
E-Bike Rentals
E-bikes open the Greenbrier River Trail up to just about everyone. If you want to cover more miles, keep up with faster riders in your group, or just take the pressure off on the return trip — these make the ride better. Our e-bikes are intuitive to operate and let you set your own level of pedal assist, so you control how much work you're doing at any given point.

When To Go
The trail rides well from spring through fall, with each season offering something a little different.
Spring brings the valley back to life — wildflowers, waterfalls running high, and cooler temps that make longer rides more comfortable. Water levels on the river are typically higher this time of year, so the scenery is at its best. Just be prepared for the occasional muddy stretch early in the season.
Summer is the busiest time on the trail, and for good reason. Long days, warm weather, and easy access make it the most popular window for families and first-time visitors. If you're planning a full-day ride, get an early start — afternoons can get warm.
Fall is hard to beat. The Greenbrier Valley turns in late October, and the trail cuts right through the middle of it. Cooler temperatures make for ideal riding conditions, and the crowds thin out significantly after Labor Day.
Winter is quiet on the trail. We have limited availability in the off-season, so reach out directly if you're planning a cold-weather ride.
FAQs
Do you offer group discounts?
If you've got a group of 5 or more, give us a call. We work with groups regularly and are happy to talk through options, availability, and pricing. It's easier to sort out over the phone than online.
Do you offer shuttles for bike rentals?
Yes. If you want to ride point-to-point instead of doubling back, we can shuttle you to your starting point and pick you up at the other end — or drop you off and let you make your own way back. We do it regularly.
Most point-to-point rides head from Marlinton or beyond, but we also run shuttles up to Cass for riders who want to take on the full northern stretch of the trail. It's one of the best ways to experience the Greenbrier River Trail, and it tends to make for a much bigger day on the bike.
Just let us know where you want to go when you book and we'll sort out the logistics.
Do I need to be fit to ride the Greenbrier River Trail?
Not at all, especially on an e-bike. The trail has a very gentle grade and no technical terrain — it's one of the more accessible rail trails in the region. Standard bikes are a good workout but nothing extreme. E-bikes let you set your own effort level so you're never overextending.
How far can I go on an e-bike charge?
Our e-bikes have a range of 40 to 60 miles on a charge depending on terrain, rider weight, and assist level. From Caldwell, you can ride comfortably in either direction and back without running out of charge on any of our standard rental durations.
Is the Greenbrier River Trail paved?
The Greenbrier River Trail is crushed limestone — not paved, but smooth and well-maintained. It's suitable for hybrid bikes, comfort bikes, and e-bikes. Road bikes with thin tires are not ideal. Our rental fleet is set up specifically for this surface.
What's the easiest section of the Greenbrier River Trail from Caldwell?
The whole southern section is easy. The trail follows the river with minimal elevation change and the surface is consistent. If you're newer to trail riding or riding with young kids, start with a 2-hour or half-day rental and see how far you feel like going. There's no wrong answer.
